Urban Parks

Vermillion Park & Walking Trail:    This gorgeous green canopy and wetland environment will make you forget that you are just a short walk from downtown!  Ducks and turtles flourish in the oxbow river, while across the park the Vermillion River continues its modern day route through the city.

Outdoor enthusiasts will love the 3 km lit trail during any season: running, cycling, walking, snowshoeing, and groomed cross skiing are all activities that will take you through the flora and fauna.  The park also features over 200 campsites, a wading pool, picnic sites, playground, and an on-site camp host who is present 24 hours a day during the summer months.

Vermillion Park Sportsplex:  This scenic legacy of the 2004 Manitoba Games has become the heart of summer recreation in Dauphin.  The Vermillion Park Sportsplex is Dauphin’s newest outdoor recreational facility and was constructed as the new home for the community’s soccer and rugby clubs for years to come.

Thanks to the TSN Kraft Celebration Tour contest which Dauphin won in 2009, a $25,000 prize was received to upgrade the site.  It now includes 4 soccer pitches, 6 ball diamonds, a regulation rugby pitch, a full service concession and washroom building, as well as additional parking.

Meadowlark Park:  Tennis anyone?  Discover Dauphin’s little-known second largest urban park!  Four tennis courts and two beach volleyball courts are the draw for the well-treed grounds, or the lit trail that winds through it is ideal for a leisurely stroll.  There is plenty of space for a private picnic, and washroom facilities are available.

Tennis passes are available by calling (204) 622-3150

CN Park:  Once the hub of Dauphin, the Canadian Northern Railway (CNR) Station provided a vital link for settlers immigrating to the Parkland region.  Adjacent to the station, CN Park in turn provided a respite for weary travelers.  Today you can enjoy the meandering path as it takes you through a variety of perennial grasses and flowerbeds.

Berry Patch:  Hungry? Need a quiet place to contemplate?  The Berry Patch was initiated as a Bushel of Berries Demonstration Site to showcase the many varieties of berry trees that can be grown locally.  Flanking CNR Station, this English-style garden features numerous types of berries, fruit trees and perennials, making it one of Dauphin’s hidden treasures.

Gartmore Park:  One of Dauphin’s original parks, this quaint neighborhood park is the ideal place for family gatherings, meetings or picnics.  The Dari-Dip is just a block away, so grab an ice cream or coffee then come, sit down, and enjoy!

Pioneer Park:   Purchased from CP Railroad by the Dauphin Agricultural Society, this was the original site of the Dauphin Agricultural Fairs from 1897 until 1953. Located behind Parkland Crossing, Pioneer Park offers large green spaces, picnic areas, and a Pioneer Memorial Cairn:  a lasting tribute to the tremendous human effort of the men and women who built an agricultural base for future generations in Dauphin.
