Tourism Dauphin has three scenic walks which feature Dauphin’s rich heritage and architecture. Showcasing schools, homes, businesses and other public buildings, the tours include interesting historical facts and highlights architectural details.
Vermillion Walk: For a mix of natural and urban, this walk takes you through the downtown area, connecting to the Vermillion Park Walking Trail. It begins at a National Heritage Site, the CNR Station, and focal points include the Watson Art Centre, former post office, Provincial Courthouse and several residences and businesses.
Fort Dauphin Walk begins at the cenotaph on Memorial Boulevard, ending at the Fort Dauphin Museum. It winds its way through the city noting the history and architecture styles of the Land Titles Building, St. Paul’s Anglican Church, a former county court judge’s residence plus several significant residences and businesses.
The Eighth Avenue Walk is a stroll through the sun-dappled street of 8th Avenue. Beginning at a home which predates the incorporation of Dauphin, the tour offers a glimpse into its rich ethnic community. You will find an interesting mix of buildings, representing the many layers of a neighbourhood. Featured buildings include the Old Anglican Vicarage, Ukrainian People’s Home, St. George’s Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church and the Historic Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Resurrection.
