Dauphin Spotlight – November

There is LOTS going on in our City this month! We have events going on for the whole family and some for when you just need a night out. Here are Novembers Spotlight events…

NOV 6 – Make your way down to the New Life Centre on November 6th at 7:00pm for some contemporary Bluegrass music. Bring the family and enjoy this FREE concert!

NOV 7 – Explore Ten Thousand Villages at the Ten Thousand Villages Global Sale. Surround yourself with unique products from artisans and small-scale farmers in developing countries. This event is brought to you by Ten Thousand Villages, a Fair Trade organization and non-profit program of Mennonite Central Committee which does relief, development and peace work world-wide. Check out this cultural event at St. Paul’s Anglican Church 404- 1st St. SW from 10:00am-4:00pm.

NOV 7 – Are you looking for a part-time or full-time job? Wanting to work during the holiday season? Looking for your first job? If you said YES, we have the event for you! Make sure you head down to the Dauphin Market Place Mall from 10:30am-4:30pm for the 8th Annual Employee Recruitment Drive. Don’t forget your resume!

NOV 8 – We have a celebrity hitting Dauphin! Brad Pattison is the host of the hit TV series “At the end of my leash” “Puppy SOS”, author of several books and has over 20 years of experience working with and training dogs. He will be hosting a workshop called “Street Safety Training” beginning at 3:00pm at the Barker School Gymnasium. You will learn tips on the best way to train your dog and you will be able to ask the expert your questions. Tickets are $25.00 each and are available at the Parkland Humane Society, Dauphin Vet Clinic and Uptown Vet Clinic.

NOV 8 – Handmade is better! Make sure you mark your calendars for the Christmas Craft Sale happening from 10:00am-4:00pm. There will be a wide variety of handmade items for sale just in time for the holiday season! After your done shopping relax with a cup of tea in the Tea Room.

NOV 9 – Check out the Juno award winning Folk Pop group, The Strumbellas. They are coming to the Watson Art Centre for a concert to remember! If you like FolkPop, RockGrass, AltCountry then this is something you want to take in. Tickets are $36.00 plus fees and taxes. The doors open at 7:30pm and the show begins at 8:00pm.

NOV 13 – The king returns! If you are an Elvis fan, this is an event you don’t want to miss! Daylin James, the 2011 Canadian International Elvis Tribute Artist Gospel Grand Champion will be performing at St. Paul’s Anglican Church (404 1st Street). The doors open at 6:15pm and the show begins at 7:00pm. Tickets are only $20 and are available at Dauphin Music and Electronics or by calling: 204-638-1463 204-638-6531.

NOV 23 – High Valley is coming to Dauphin! If you love country music, the Watson Art Centre on November 23rd is the place to be! With hits such as “Have I told you I love you lately” and “Country Line” this will be an incredible evening. The doors open at 6:00pm and the show starts at 7:00pm. NOV29 – Ahh holiday traditions… The Knights of Columbus Christmas Parade of Lights is fast approaching! It will take place on November 29th at 5:30pm, same route as the previous year. So buddle up and bring the family for the kick off to the holiday season! (It will be here before we know it)

Dauphin Spotlight – October

OCT 1 – Come down to Bruce’s Firehouse to take in some dirt road rock and roll from Kingston, Ontario. Tom Savage will take the stage at 8:00pm. His country music tour will take him throughout Canada and we can’t wait to have him rock the stage in Dauphin! Doors will open at 7:30pm. Call in advance for tickets 204-638-4834 or pick them up at the door prior to show time.

OCT 4 – Bring on the laughs! The Dauphin & District Community Foundation presents Big Daddy Tazz. Tazz is equal parts comedian and motivational speaker, who likes to enlighten, educate and inspire. As a result, his one-man shows have drawn rave reviews and standing ovations from coast-to-coast. Enjoy appetizers and cocktails as well as Philanthropist of the year award. Doors open at 7:00pm at the Dauphin & District Allied Arts Centre. Tickets are $40 and are available at the Community Foundation office at City Hall.

OCT 8 – While the weather outside is cooling off, you’ll need to warm up. Best chilly weather food? Chili! The Annual Chili Cook Off hosted by the Parkland Mental Health promotion committee is on from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Dauphin Friendship Center back hall. Admission is only $2! You’ll get to sample and vote for your favorite Chili. There will also be a wellness raffle, and live entertainment! To enter your chill into the event call Pam at 204-622-4189.

OCT 19 – Mark your calendars! Fred Eaglesmith hits the stage for a concert to remember at the Watson Art Centre. Eaglesmith is a veteran of the music industry and at the same time is about as far away from actually participating in today’s music industry as one could be. Never operating within anyone’s boundaries, he continues to set the standard for independent artists everywhere. Doors open at 7:30pm and the show begins at 8:00pm.

OCT 24 – TGIF! Spend your Friday enjoying good wine, good food and good company at the Rotary Wine Tasting. This evening will feature instructed wine tasting, fine finger foods and mingling with friends at the Lion’s Den, Parkland Rec Complex. Tickets are $25 and available from any Rotary member as well as at the Dauphin MLCC.

OCT 31 – Witches, warlocks, goblins, oh my! Get dressed up and come to the Watson Art Centre for a live performance by Krazy Madness, a metal/rock who play tribute to many classic metal bands such as Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Quiet Riot, Jimi Hendrix and many more. Get ready for some spoOoky fun and cash prizes!
