Vermillion River Walking Trail: One of the most accessible wetland environments to view ducklings and turtles is right here in Dauphin’s Vermillion Park. Outdoor enthusiasts will love the 3 km lit trail during any season: running, cycling, walking, snowshoeing, and groomed cross skiing are all activities that will take you through the flora and fauna. This gorgeous green canopy and wetland environment will make you forget that you are just a short walk from downtown!
Riding Mountain National Park: This breathtaking National Park has more than 400 km of biking, hiking and horseback trails. There are many self-guided trails ranging from 1.8 to 38.5 km in length, rated from easy to difficult. A front or backcountry trail guide is available at the Visitor Information Centre and bike rentals are available at Tempo Gas in Wasagaming, the park’s townsite. Backcountry permits are also available.
Cyclists will love the challenge of the road ride between Dauphin and Wasagaming: this is also the route of the annual RONA MS Bike Tour: Riding Mountain Challenge every September. Visit http://mssociety.ca/manitoba/RMC.htm to find out how to enter!
